Here are some ideas for activities you can organize for your group. It is encouraged to organize activities together with other tutor groups, so that the new students can get to know more people.

Remember that your job as a tutor is to ensure that drinking or getting drunk are not the main activity at your hangouts.

What to tell about ordering and wearing overalls?

HOW TO GET THEM?

• Mursus and Marsus can try and buy dollar green overalls at Jaostorieha (Orientation week’s Wednesday). KY membership is required in advance.
• Exchange students get to try and buy their overalls at KY-SUB's Welcome Evening (Orientation week’s Saturday).
• These are the only chances to try on and buy overalls. If someone can’t attend, their tutor can buy them for them.
• Give tips on finding a good fit: leave room for warm layers underneath, squat test, expect slight shrinkage when sewing badges, take your shoes off when trying them on. Pick a fit that allows for changes over the years and is comfy, so does not feel tight or excessively baggy. Overalls also look different on everyone, so there’s no one “correct” fit!
• Encourage students to get them. Even if they skip events, overalls are a unique memory of time spent at KY and can’t be bought later.
• Distribution will happen by KUJ before the overall ceremony and the Dollarparty at the end of September.
• Tell your students about the overall culture, history and the KY overall rules.

KY OVERALL RULES

1. The overalls are fitting in size and their color is dollar green. Each user may decorate them in the way they want, but the KY logo and text may not be covered.
2. In addition, the advertisements on the overalls may not be covered. So, don’t sew badges on them.
3. All actual members of KY and Former members are entitled to wear the overalls. Permanent or temporary rights for others are granted by the KY board.
4. They can be worn in events organized by KY’s associations as well as in academic events, if the dress code allows for overalls.
5. Between May Day (Wappu) and “Lakinlaskijaiset”, members are allowed to wear the Finnish matriculation cap (yo-lakki) equipped with a KY cap badge.
6. Washing the overalls is allowed only in force majeure situations and even then, only with written permission by two actual members of KY. This permission must always be carried in the left chest pocket of the overalls after washing. Removing odor is allowed and even recommended.
7. Offensive behavior is not desirable while wearing the overalls. Members are under responsibility to KY for any activity against common good manners or activity that is otherwise harmful to KY’s image performed while wearing overalls. Members may be banned from using them as a consequence.
8. If the right to wear the overalls is lost either due to ban of usage or other reasons, the overalls may be retained as a memory. In case disposing of the overalls is necessary, they must either be burned, or be handed over to the KY Office, which will take care of proper disposal.
9. The overalls express the KY spirit in its truest form. Therefore, not wearing them is without fail the biggest and most serious offense.
